Anthony Boitano joined Vertex in 2020 after 4 years as the VP of stem cell biology at Magenta Therapeutics where he was responsible for the discovery and development of therapies to revolutionize stem cell transplantation for patients with immune- and blood-based diseases. He performed his undergraduate work at Washington State University and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He was a post-doctoral fellow in the Schultz lab at The Scripps Research Institute where he studied hematopoietic stem cell biology. From TSRI he went to the Genomic Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation where he was a Senior Investigator in the Regenerative Medicine/Immunology Department. His research focused on hematopoietic stem cell biology, malignant and nonmalignant hematology, and immune oncology. His work led to 10 papers in top journals.
